Following a review of the Young Leader unit, that Jon Handby and myself have conducted, please find attached (Click here to see the letter) an update from the Young Leader unit.

The update includes details of a major change to our training schedule and also how we are looking to improve communication. Full justification for these changes are detailed in the letter, however should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Also attached is a copy of our new training schedule. (Click here to download the new training dates for 2012)

The letter and new training date information has been posted directly to all Young Leaders registered with the unit and also to all Group Scout Leaders. If you have any Young Leaders who are not registered with the unit; a) can you ensure they register asap and b) please could you pass the letter and new training dates to them.

Hope everyone has had a great Christmas, but we here at Manchester South Explorers haven't stopped working.
We have just activated our new facebook page and are working hard to get some new bits added to the site.

Stay tuned because coming up we have an update to the Young Leader Programme being annoucned soon including new dates and details on the changes to the courses we have made from feedback given in the last month.

We are currently reviewing the young leader training programme, and details of the revised plan will be posted shortly and will be emailed to all GSLs within the district.

All current courses are suspended until further notice.

The old DVESU website was starting to crumble away before we brought this new site online in October. Well this week are are going to bring it back to life... In a way!

Bit by bit, the bits that are recoverable will be saved and archived as part of the new site. So far I have been able to put up some of the images from the fantastic events and various camps that the DVESU has attended in the last few years since its formation.

If you have any bits you would like to add the DVESU pages or any part of our website, then please let me know and send it to me via email!

Kids Behaving Badly
Young Leaders will learn how to deal with difficult situations in their section, and the possible causes of bad behaviour.

If you would like to attend this session that runs next week, then you can book your place on the course using our calendar.

Since the site first went online a few weeks ago, we have been missing an important part of the site which today has finally gone online!
You can now contact any unit or the district team themselves by pressing contact us in any of our sites, and then filling in the simple form.

So if you want to know anything about our section, want to join as a youth member (ages 14 to 18) or become a leader at one of our units then get in contact and we can point you in the right direction!

A District Meeting for all Explorer Section Leaders has been planned for the 3rd November at 20:00.

Please contact your unit contact for further details as a location is yet to be finalised.

Hello and welcome to the new home of Explorer Scouting in Manchester South.
Over the next few weeks this website will be completed with the bit and bobs that you would normally expect to see from a Scouting website. However there may be bits that you dont expect to see too!

Manchester South Explorers has seen a massive growth in the section over the last 12 months due to recent interest and activity, the opening of a new unit in Wythenshawe to compliment the already active unit in Didsbury. Plus we have just opened the new Young Leaders Unit that will aid training and support for all our young leaders in the district but it is also open to those outside of the district.

So make us a favourate, keep watching and enjoy as more and more contact gets added to the site.

If you are an Explorer leader within the district, then please get your section leader to contact me with your detail so I can set you up a login to enable you to keep us all posted as to whats going on in your group!
